New opportunities expand educational pathways for nursing students and strengthen healthcare workforce partnerships

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Hondros College of Nursing announced its combination with American Public University System (the System), an important milestone that expands opportunities for current and future students, strengthening its ability to support students and address evolving healthcare workforce needs. Hondros College of Nursing is now formally called Hondros College of Nursing part of American Public University System.

The System is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). As an Academic Unit of the System, Hondros College of Nursing now operates under American Public University System’s institutional accreditation.

For more than two decades, Hondros College of Nursing has prepared thousands of licensed practical nurses and registered nurses through its student-centered, laddered approach to nursing education. Serving students through eight campuses across Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan, Hondros College of Nursing has built strong relationships with healthcare partners and communities throughout the region. Now, as part of the System, which also includes Rasmussen University, students have expanded opportunities to continue their educational journeys with pathways to pursue bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral nursing education, along with additional degree programs that support career advancement and lifelong learning.
