Safe Pro Files Patent for Enhanced Artificial Intelligence Computer Vision Analysis Algorithm for Improved Detection Accuracy in Drone Operations
Latest Patent Application Solidifies Expanding Global Intellectual Property Portfolio as the Company Prepares for Upcoming U.S. Army Operations and Exercises
AVENTURA, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Safe Pro Group Inc. (Nasdaq: SPAI) (“Safe Pro” or the “Company”), a developer of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled defense and security solutions, today announced the filing of its latest patent application for its AI-powered computer vision technology for the rapid and autonomous detection of small explosive threats in drone-based video and imagery, further expanding its intellectual property (IP) portfolio.
Created as a result of ongoing real-world usage, the new algorithm outlined in the patent application entitled, “Object Detection Precision Enhancement Methods, Tools and Systems”, describes a novel approach to greatly enhancing the detection precision and accuracy of AI when used to detect small objects in imagery captured by drones. This enhanced approach to image analysis has already demonstrated greatly improved effectiveness when utilized in wide-scale operations where massive amounts of data require rapid processing and analysis. The Company will be showcasing its enhanced capabilities during multiple upcoming events with the U.S. Army highlighted by the 2026 Concept Focused Warfighter Experiment (CFWE), Live Breach event and the CFWE Maneuver (CFWE-M) technology demonstration.
“Our AI team continues to rapidly enhance our unique AI-powered computer vision technology, greatly improving the accuracy of threat detection, capabilities built on growing real-world data and usage. The result is a leap in precision and operational reliability for large-scale missions that depend on trustworthy object detection, from landmine clearance to broader security and inspection applications,” said Dan Erdberg, Chairman of Safe Pro Group Inc. “As we continue to actively pursue adoption and deployment opportunities within the defense and humanitarian markets, we are confident that our growing real-world experience and invaluable end-user feedback will help ensure that we continue to provide decision-makers with unmatched situational awareness.”
The Company’s IP portfolio currently includes the awarded US Patent No. 12,146,729 incorporating 21 claims made in the Company’s original patent application entitled, “Systems and Methods for Detecting and Identifying Explosives.” These claims cover autonomous detection, identification, and labeling of explosives in orthomosaic images using AI processing of drone imagery. Valid until 2043, the patent captures the groundbreaking nature of SpotlightAI™ and its ability to transform fields ranging from humanitarian demining, agriculture, to national defense and reconstruction. The Company has expanded its international filings by entering in the national phase of its previously filed (and related) international application filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (“PCT”), in Europe (extended to include Bosnia and Herzegovina), Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel and Ukraine; which covers patent protection rights in 47 jurisdictions. In August, the Company received notice of official publication of its international applications in Australia, Israel and the European region, an initial step in securing international IP protection.
Whether deployed on the edge in real-time (SpotlightAI™ OnSite) or leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) on the cloud (SpotlightAI™), the Company’s patented SPOTD technology can scale globally, offering solutions for rapid battlefield analysis as well as supporting large-scale commercial and humanitarian demining operations. Powering the Company’s SPOTD technology, Safe Pro’s unique real-world datasets include high-resolution drone imagery and GPS-tagged geospatial data encompassing over 2.2 million drone images analyzed to date, and 41,400+ threats identified across 11,400 hectares (over 28,000 acres).
