The new center is located at the Chicago Baptist Institute
CHICAGO
, June 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — CVS Health® (NYSE: CVS) announced today the opening of its new Workforce Innovation and Talent Center (WITC) in Chicago. The center, situated at the Chicago Baptist Institute, will improve the community’s access to workforce training services and provide every participant who completes the program an opportunity to apply for a position at CVS Health.
The WITC will transform lives in the Chicago community, like that of Catrina Malone. Her journey began when she attended an informational session while pursuing a film career. Now, as a pharmacy technician at CVS Health, Catrina shares her story:
“Growing up in an unstable home environment, I faced many barriers. My mother struggled with substance abuse, and there were times when I didn’t know where my next meal would come from. With the support of my legal guardian, I stayed determined to forge my own path and build a career despite the odds being against me. This new role as a pharmacy technician for CVS Pharmacy has given me just that. Through this center and the kindness of everyone here, I’ve felt truly encouraged and supported — and for that, I am extremely thankful.”
In collaboration with the Chicago Baptist Institute, the new center will train individuals seeking employment as pharmacy technicians, customer service associates, call center associates and retail associates. A simulated retail store within each location will offer hands-on job training to create experiences that closely resemble real-world scenarios.
“At our new WITC, we’re dedicated to helping individuals build skills for in-demand jobs, like Pharmacy Technicians,” said Sheryl Burke, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility and Chief Sustainability Officer at CVS Health. “Working alongside the Chicago Baptist Institute, we aim to make it easier for community members to access and find meaningful employment.”
“The Chicago Baptist Institute is very proud to be a part of the opening of the WITC, which will serve as an important pathway for potential candidates seeking job opportunities,” said Walter P. Turner, President of the Chicago Baptist Institute. “This collaboration with CVS Health will create a sustainable model for workforce development that benefits both participants and the broader community we support.”
As CVS Health opens its latest workforce centers, the company is actively exploring opportunities to expand this programming to serve the surrounding Chicago community. Last year, in collaboration with local organizations and federal, state, and local agencies nationwide, CVS Health created meaningful job opportunities for over 1,500 individuals.
Working with the Chicago Baptist Institute builds on CVS Health and Aetna’s long history of community support in Chicago. Earlier this year, CVS Health and Aetna® announced a combination of $750,000 in community grants to organizations working to increase access to maternal and behavioral health services, and the resources needed to take proactive steps toward a healthier future. Additionally, CVS Health offers free health screenings to individuals nationwide through its Project Health initiative. Last year, CVS Health hosted 33 Project Health events, saw 1,307 participants and provided 4,575 screenings in Chicago. The program is offered throughout the year across the country. To date, CVS Health has also invested over $65 million in affordable housing across Illinois, helping to create or preserve nearly 3,600 affordable units, including over 1,200 affordable units in Chicago.
