Iowa American Water Completes Acquisition of City of Low Moor’s Water and Wastewater Systems

DAVENPORT, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Iowa American Water announced today it has completed the acquisition of the water and wastewater systems of the City of Low Moor. The purchase of the system adds approximately 126 water and 128 wastewater connections to the company’s Clinton service area and was approved by the Iowa Utilities Commission.

“Iowa American Water is excited to expand our services to our new customers in Low Moor. We appreciate the community’s trust and confidence in our team of water and wastewater professionals, and we thank Mayor Goldensoph, the city council and city clerk for their support throughout the process,” said Brad Nielsen, President of Iowa American Water. “Today, we welcome our new customers, and we look forward to providing safe, clean, reliable and affordable water and wastewater service to them while being an integral partner in the community.”

Over the next five years, Iowa American Water plans to invest more than $1 million to address critical infrastructure improvements in the water and wastewater systems as well as upgrade safety and security systems. The improvements include new meters, wastewater system upgrades, and a water main extension from Iowa American Water’s Clinton District to Low Moor to improve water quality, reliability and operational efficiency. The company has a long and successful track record of providing solutions for water and wastewater systems, with its ability to make the necessary investments to meet systems’ current and future requirements.

“This sale to Iowa American Water is a great step forward for our community. By transferring ownership of our water and wastewater systems to Iowa American Water, we’re ensuring critical infrastructure upgrades, reliable, high-quality water, and strong service for our residents. With their expertise and investment, Low Moor will benefit from a modernized system and dependable service for many years to come,” said Low Moor Mayor Tom Goldensoph. “This has been a thorough process to carefully evaluate all aspects of the decision and maintain the transparency and public involvement we promised from the beginning. As a community partner, Iowa American Water brings the experience and scale needed to effectively manage both our water and wastewater systems—benefits that would have been difficult for Low Moor to achieve on its own. Joining Iowa American Water was the right choice for our town.”

Low Moor customers will receive a letter in the mail from Iowa American Water providing additional information about the new water and wastewater services available to them. New customers will also be able to take advantage of the company’s customer service benefits, including customer payment plans and budget billing options on the MyWater customer portal at iowaamwater.com.
