Firefly Aerospace Onboarded to NASA Spacecraft Processing Operations Contract

Award enables Firefly to bid on payload processing facilities and services for NASA missions at Vandenberg Space Force Base

CEDAR PARK, Texas, Aug. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Firefly Aerospace (Nasdaq: FLY), a market leading space and defense technology company, today announced it was awarded a Spacecraft Processing Operations Contract from NASA. This award positions Firefly to compete for task orders providing payload processing facilities and services in support of NASA missions launching from Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB).

“Firefly is operating one of the few commercial payload processing facilities supporting West Coast missions, and we’re excited to offer this as a commercial service to our partners at NASA. This capability helps alleviate critical bottlenecks in the industry and accelerates the timeline between payload arrival and liftoff for government and commercial customers,” said Adam Oakes, Vice President of Launch at Firefly Aerospace. “Reliable access to space depends on more than rockets — it depends on the infrastructure that gets payloads ready to fly, and our ready-to-use procession and fueling facility is filling that void.”

Firefly’s commercially available Payload Processing Facility (PPF), located within 0.5 miles of the company’s Space Launch Complex 2 on the north end of VSFB, supports government and commercial space payloads. Equipped with a storage area, control room, workspace, airlock, and ISO 8 cleanroom, the facility can accommodate storage, fueling, and checkouts of small and medium-size payloads and hypergolic spacecraft.

Under the contract, Firefly is eligible to provide commercial payload processing services to support payload processing, fueling, integration, and encapsulation for NASA missions ahead of launch. The award recognizes Firefly’s growing launch infrastructure and reinforces the company’s role as a trusted provider supporting NASA’s mission portfolio. The award further adds to Firefly’s exiting launch agreements with NASA, including missions for NASA’s Quicksounder and INCUS satellites set to launch on Firefly’s Alpha rocket.

Washington Trust launches Age With Wisdom™ education series to help Rhode Island and Connecticut older adults prevent financial exploitation and plan for the future

PR Newswire

New education initiative combines fraud prevention, financial planning guidance, and AARP BankSafe® training to help older adults, families, and caregivers protect financial well-being

WESTERLY, R.I., Aug. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Washington Trust Company (Washington Trust), today announced the launch of its Age With Wisdom™ education series, a community-focused initiative designed to help older adults, their families, and caregivers across Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut protect themselves from financial fraud, prevent financial exploitation, and navigate the financial challenges that often accompany aging.

The Washington Trust Company has launched an Age With Wisdom education series to help older adults avoid scams and protect their finances.

Age With Wisdom™ is part of Washington Trust’s broader commitment to helping older adults maintain financial independence, safeguard their assets, and prepare confidently for future life transitions. Through education, personalized guidance, and community outreach, the program addresses both immediate fraud risks and long-term financial planning needs.

Washington Trust, the nation’s oldest community bank and a verified AARP BankSafe® institution, regularly works with older adults, family members, and caregivers to identify suspicious activity, recognize signs of financial exploitation, and support age-related financial decision-making. Branch teams throughout southern Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut frequently assist customers and families in navigating complex situations involving fraud concerns, caregiving responsibilities, and financial transitions.

Earlier this year, Washington Trust’s efforts to protect a longtime customer from a financial scam were highlighted in a New York Times column, Banks are Becoming Bulwarks for Vulnerable Seniors, examining the growing role banks play in preventing elder financial exploitation. The article described how Washington Trust employees identified suspicious activity and intervened before the customer suffered a significant financial loss.

“Washington Trust has made protecting older adults from financial exploitation a priority across the communities we serve,” said Washington Trust President and Chief Operating Officer Mary Noons. “Through Age With Wisdom™ and our ongoing investment in employee training, fraud prevention education, and personalized guidance, we are helping Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut seniors recognize scams, strengthen their financial security, and plan confidently for the future.”

The Local Older Population is Growing
With a growing population of older adults throughout the region, the need for trusted financial resources has never been greater. Financial scams targeting seniors continue to increase in both frequency and sophistication, often affecting individuals who live independently or reside in retirement communities, where fraudsters exploit trust, isolation, and rapidly evolving technology.

Across Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut, older adults represent a growing share of the population. In Rhode Island, approximately 31% of residents are age 55 and older, exceeding the national average, and the state’s population is projected to continue aging, with one in four residents expected to be age 65 or older by 2030. Connecticut is experiencing a similar demographic trend, with nearly one-quarter of residents age 60 and older.

As the population ages, the risks associated with elder financial abuse, financial exploitation, and fraud are increasing. This demographic shift underscores the importance of proactive financial planning, trusted support networks, and access to education that helps older adults and caregivers recognize and respond to potential threats.

A Comprehensive Approach to Aging and Financial Well-Being
Rooted in Washington Trust’s 225-year tradition of personalized service, Age With Wisdom™ provides integrated access to banking, lending, and wealth management expertise designed specifically to address aging-related financial needs.

By combining banking services, financial planning guidance, fraud prevention education, and caregiver support resources, Washington Trust offers a comprehensive approach to helping older adults protect their finances and maintain independence as they age.  Through the program, customers as well as their families and caregivers can receive guidance on:

  • Organizing financial accounts and preparing for future transitions
  • Establishing trusted contacts and powers of attorney
  • Ensuring proper beneficiary designations
  • Exploring options to support aging in place, including home equity strategies
  • Coordinating with attorneys, accountants, healthcare providers, and senior living professionals
  • Protecting against fraud, scams, and financial exploitation

Washington Trust also earned designation as a verified AARP BankSafe® institution, reflecting the Bank’s commitment to equipping frontline employees with the tools and training needed to recognize and respond to warning signs of elder financial abuse, financial exploitation, and fraud targeting older adults.

Education Series Details
The Age With Wisdom™ education series brings these resources directly into the community through engaging, practical sessions that combine education on fraud prevention with actionable financial planning guidance.  Topics will include:

  • The latest fraud schemes targeting older adults, including impersonation scams and AI-enabled fraud
  • Common warning signs and behavioral indicators of financial exploitation
  • Steps individuals and caregivers can take to safeguard personal and financial information
  • What to do if elder financial abuse or fraud is suspected
  • Strategies for maintaining financial independence, confidence, and resilience throughout retirement

Washington Trust has long been committed to financial education throughout the communities it serves, and Age With Wisdom™ represents a natural extension of that mission.

“We created Age With Wisdom™ to address a growing need for trusted, knowledgeable support in navigating the financial aspects of aging,” Noons added. “Whether it’s protecting against fraud, organizing finances, or planning for future care, our goal is to provide clarity, confidence, and peace of mind for our customers and their families.”

In addition to in-person seminars, individuals can access a wide range of educational resources — including articles, planning guides, checklists, and fraud prevention videos — at washtrust.com/age.

The AFGSC award extends the Xos Hub customer base beyond commercial fleets and municipal operators into the U.S. defense ecosystem, adding to a growing pipeline that spans port authorities, utilities, and federal grant programs. It validates the Hub’s role as infrastructure-grade mobile power for the most demanding operators in the world.
  • American-made. Designed in California and manufactured in Tennessee, the system will undergo primary assembly and integration at Xos’s Byrdstown, Tennessee facility, reflecting a fully domestic design-to-build model that delivers purpose-built energy solutions from a U.S. production base.

“This award marks a strategic inflection point for Xos. When the United States Air Force evaluates the market and selects our technology, it confirms what we set out to build from day one: a mobile energy platform proven in commercial operations that can meet the most demanding mission requirements in the field. Defense is a significant new addressable market for the Xos Ecosystem, and it is one where our advantages compound: American design and manufacturing, proven reliability, and deployable power that needs no fixed infrastructure. This is how Xos scales, carrying a platform already trusted across multiple sectors into the highest-stakes markets in the world,” said Dakota Semler, Chief Executive Officer of Xos.

The opportunity is substantial. The U.S. Department of Defense is the largest institutional consumer of energy in the United States, and the U.S. Army has committed to fielding microgrids at every installation and an all-electric non-tactical vehicle fleet by 2035. Xos is built to help power that shift: the Xos Hub delivers high-capacity, deployable energy with no permanent infrastructure, the same capability already proven in the field today, now adapted for defense operations.

“This award reflects disciplined execution across engineering, operations, and manufacturing. As a non-traditional contractor, we move fast and we deliver, adapting a commercially proven product for a new mission and building it right here in Tennessee. It is a powerful demonstration of the flexibility of our platform and the strength of our American manufacturing base” said Giordano Sordoni, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Xos.

With a period of performance extending into late 2027, the agreement positions Xos to demonstrate the versatility of the Xos Hub across new environments while deepening its domestic manufacturing capabilities. The Company intends to build on this milestone as it pursues additional opportunities to bring its mobile charging and energy storage technology to fleets and operators seeking reliable, deployable, infrastructure-free power.

Kevin Jones named President of Deluxe Merchant Services

Founder of recently acquired Celero Commerce brings 20-plus years of experience to Deluxe

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Deluxe (NYSE: DLX), a trusted payments and data company, today announced the appointment of Kevin Jones as President of its Merchant Services division.

Jones founded Celero Commerce in 2018, rapidly scaling it to process more than $28 billion across 175 banking partners and 55,000 small business customers annually. Deluxe acquired Celero earlier this month, positioning Deluxe Merchant Services as a top-10 non-bank merchant acquirer, based on Nilson reporting.

Prior to launching Celero, Jones led First American Payment Systems’ strategic partner channel before leaving to found Anovia Payments, where he delivered an 8.5x investment return. Deluxe later acquired First American in 2021, which now serves as the backbone of the company’s Merchant Services division.

“Kevin brings the experience and leadership to expand our merchant business, and I am excited to welcome him as part of the Deluxe leadership team,” said Barry McCarthy, President and CEO of Deluxe. “He brings the perspective that comes with creating entirely new ventures in a rapidly changing payments environment and has helped the payments industry evolve in ways we could’ve only imagined 10 years ago. His demonstrated ability to deliver for customers and drive ROI is a natural fit for our culture.”

Jones’ track record has been one of implementing innovative payments solutions through a user-friendly high-tech bundle.

“I am excited to be joining Barry and the team at Deluxe,” Jones said. “The strength, scale, and scope of the combined entity position us to win and grow faster than either organization could alone. The marriage of shared customer focus, distribution channels, proprietary processing platforms, and award-winning service creates a uniquely compelling offer in the marketplace.”
