ATEC Announces Preliminary 2020 Revenue Results

•  Full-year 2020 U.S. revenue
growth exceeded 30%

•  Fourth quarter 2020 U.S. revenue grew over 38% compared to last year

CARLSBAD, Calif., Jan. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Alphatec Holdings, Inc. (“ATEC” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: ATEC), a medical device company dedicated to revolutionizing the approach to spine surgery, announced today preliminary revenue results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2020.

Preliminary, Unaudited 2020 Revenue

  Fourth Quarter Ended
December 31, 2020
Year Ended
December 31, 2020
U.S. Revenue $43.0 million to $43.3 million $141.0 million to $141.3 million
Total Revenue $43.8 million to $44.1 million $144.8 million to $145.1 million

Preliminary, unaudited fourth quarter 2020 U.S. revenue grew 38% to 39% year-over-year and 7% to 8% sequentially despite the impact of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, which pressured surgery volume growth in several key geographies. Growth was driven primarily by the continuing rapid adoption of recently released ATEC technologies and strong pull-through from the SafeOp Neural InformatiX System. New product sales represented approximately 75% of estimated U.S. revenue for the quarter. Preliminary, unaudited full-year 2020 U.S. revenue reflects growth of 30% to 31% compared to 2019.

“Our 2020 performance gives me great confidence in our ability to continue to earn market share,” said Pat Miles, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “While we expect pandemic-related volume variability to persist into 2021, we will continue to drive adoption of novel procedures like PTP while we work to close the EOS transaction. The clinical prowess of the team we have assembled and the unparalleled output of the organic innovation machine tell me that ATEC’s best is yet to come.”

The preliminary results announced today are unaudited and are therefore subject to change. The Company expects to announce its fourth quarter and full-year 2020 financial and operating results on March 4, 2021.

2021 Revenue Guidance

The Company expects total revenue for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2021, to approximate $178 million, which includes U.S. revenue of approximately $176 million. Revenue guidance reflects expected U.S. revenue growth of approximately 25% compared to 2020, driven by continued launches of novel procedures and products and growing traction of the procedures and products released in 2020. Total revenue guidance contemplates the anticipated wind-down of the Company’s international supply agreement by August 2021. The Company expects to update guidance to reflect the positive impact of EOS imaging when that transaction closes, which is anticipated in Q2 2021.

The Company remains subject to the potential and uncertain impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. If hospitals continue to experience a surge in COVID-19 cases and defer elective procedures to preserve capacity, the Company’s ability to achieve these financial objectives may be adversely affected

HERE releases 3D city models for industries to build reality-based applications and simulations

Precise geospatial data utilized in transportation, logistics, urban planning and government operations, filmmaking, videogame development and AR/VR applications

CES 2021 – HERE Technologies, the leading location data and technology platform, today unveiled high-fidelity, 3D models of 75 city centers around the world to give software developers the geospatial data needed to build real-world visualizations of cities. With HERE Premier 3D Cities, last-mile delivery drivers can navigate dense cities with maps that highlight precise building dimensions and entry points along their delivery routes. The entertainment industry gets the building blocks for virtual site visits and seamless computer-generated imagery integration. Telecommunications companies can optimize their buildouts of 5G networks in 3D and urban planners and emergency responders can build digital twins for better land use analysis and disaster readiness simulations.

HERE Premier 3D Cities contain rich data layers and attributes that are aligned to physical geometry and terrain. Each structure is indexed, addressable, and accurate in terms of physical location, volume size, elevation and façade color.

Huntress Acquires Network-Aware Endpoint Detection and Response Technology from Level Effect to Strengthen Platform Capabilities

The acquisition brings malicious network traffic detection and expanded forensic capabilities to the Huntress Security Platform regardless of endpoint location

ELLICOTT CITY, Md., Jan. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Huntress, the leading provider of managed detection and response (MDR) with human-powered threat hunting, announced today the acquisition of network-aware endpoint detection and response (EDR) technology from San Antonio-based startup Level Effect.

Known as Recon™, the technology is the first EDR solution that merges endpoint forensics with sophisticated network traffic visibility with no appliance required. Recon can see what’s happening to protected endpoints both internally and externally, providing unparalleled visibility and detection of attacker behavior including payload downloads, lateral movement and more.

The acquisition will enable Huntress to expand and strengthen its detection and response capabilities, allowing the company’s partners to capture more holistic views of endpoint security and better-protect their end customers.

“We’re thrilled to bring Level Effect’s Recon technology to Huntress,” said Kyle Hanslovan, Founder and CEO at Huntress. “Our core telemetry today focuses primarily on persistence-enabled attacks. By integrating Recon, our platform will respond to malicious network sessions, event logs and non-persistent threats, allowing us to support broader cybersecurity use cases and defend additional attack surfaces.”

As part of the acquisition, Level Effect co-founders Greg Ake and Robert Noeth will join the Huntress team to support the initial integration and ongoing development of the Recon software.

Like the founding team at Huntress, both Ake and Noeth have strong backgrounds in the U.S. intelligence community, having worked within the National Security Agency, Air Force and other institutions.

“The combination of Recon’s correlated network and endpoint visibility with Huntress’ advanced detection and response capabilities will be a game-changer for security monitoring and response,” said Ake. “We’re really excited about this acquisition and what it means for partners who are fighting to defend their technology environments and protect customers.”

“We’re looking forward to frustrating a lot of hackers,” Noeth added. “It’s exciting to be able to combine our strengths with Huntress and accelerate our shared mission to deliver greater security to SMBs.”

While Huntress has acquired the Recon technology and related IP portfolio, Level Effect will continue to operate as its own independent business—providing cybertraining services to aspiring security practitioners looking to advance their knowledge.

Huntress partners will receive additional information regarding planned service and feature enhancements as it becomes available, with initial updates expected in Q3 2021.

SADA Launches Alliance Program to Help SaaS Companies Scale

The business and technology consultancy will guide software companies in the use of Google Cloud technology to drive innovation, enhance their product offerings and align on go-to-market strategies

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SADA, a leading global business and technology consultancy, announces the launch of a program that is designed to help Software as a Service (SaaS) companies accelerate their growth and maximize the value of Google Cloud. The SADA SaaS Alliance Program is officially launching today with four B2B cloud-native companies: Cysiv, PacketFabric, Quantum Metric, and Virtru.

Launching a SaaS product in today’s hard-scrabble market is difficult enough without the pressure of raising awareness, finding sales leads and closing deals. Doing so while simultaneously figuring out how to work with the top cloud providers is even more challenging. SADA’s alliance program aims to make these tasks easier and more cost-effective.

Upon joining SADA’s SaaS Alliance Program, SaaS partners are assigned an account manager, who will serve as their go-to resource for everything from business planning to program execution. Alliance account managers can help with go-to-market strategies, account mapping to maximize success with targeted prospects, business reviews to measure performance goals and objectives, thought leadership content, and promotional opportunities with SADA and Google Cloud.

Other benefits of the SaaS Alliance Program include GCP training and cost optimization whiteboard sessions, 24×7 support, co-branded marketing collateral, a guest appearance on the Cloud N Clear podcast, sales enablement sessions and materials, and co-selling and targeted lead-generation with the SADA sales team based on qualifications.

“It’s important to find partners that can support Quantum Metric’s accelerated growth, given the increasing importance of delivering digital products with greater impact, speed, and confidence,” said Mario Ciabarra, CEO of Quantum Metric. “As such, we’ve made a 5-year commitment to Google Cloud through SADA, given their technical expertise and the strong relationship SADA has established with the Google Cloud team. Not only have we decided to become a SADA customer, but we’re also one of the first to be included in SADA’s SaaS Alliance Program, working together to identify new opportunities for our field teams through a dedicated Alliance Account Manager. I believe Quantum Metric + SADA + Google Cloud is a unique accelerator to propel us further forward, and I’m excited for what’s to come in 2021!”

“With a client list that spans healthcare, media and entertainment, retail, manufacturing, public sector and cloud natives, SADA has the experience to help companies in every industry move to and use Google Cloud,” said Nikki Harley, Strategic Alliance Manager at SADA. “Our SaaS Alliance Program extends that expertise to innovative software companies, so they can scale their business faster and more successfully.”

Clumio Achieves ISO 27701 Certification, First Internationally Recognized Privacy Standard Aligned with GDPR

  • Authentic SaaS innovator’s “born in the cloud” design gives company market-leading, proactive compliance advantage
  • ISO 27701 regarded as first internationally recognized privacy certification standard
that parallels General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements
  • Clumio has completed five major privacy/security compliance programs in its first
    18 months

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Clumio™ Inc., innovators of authentic SaaS for enterprise backup, today announced that the company’s secure backup as a service for the enterprise has achieved the ISO 27701:2019 Privacy Information Management System (PIMS) certification.

ISO 27701 is widely considered to be the first internationally recognized privacy certification standard that parallels the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) personal data collection, processing, and protection requirements. This latest privacy certification underscores the company’s commitment to proactive compliance, with Clumio completing five major privacy/security compliance programs in its first 18 months. One of the company’s prime competitive differentiators: Clumio’s cloud-native architecture has allowed the company to “bake” security capabilities into its Software as a Service (SaaS) platform.

“While some companies are cobbling together compliance solutions, Clumio has made it a mission from day one to take a holistic and proactive approach to compliance,” said Glenn Mulvaney, vice president of cloud operations and security, Clumio. “We began our ISO compliance work before we even had a public product, and have worked to stay one step ahead of our audit requirements, compliance reports, and certifications. We started with the correct compliance controls long before we entered the public market, meaning we didn’t have to ‘undo’ poor practices when it came to our product, our employees, and our processes. We built our platform and our organization to conform to key industry privacy and security standards from the start.”

Clumio was born in the public cloud, leveraging the most modern cloud capabilities — including more than 10 major AWS services — to ensure it meets and exceeds the backup, privacy, and security requirements of today’s most demanding enterprises. Clumio recognizes that compliance and security are not interchangeable. As a result, information security best practices are built into the product architecture. Clumio’s authentic SaaS backup protects workloads such as VMware / VMware Cloud on AWS, Amazon Web Services (EC2/RDS/EBS), and Microsoft M365. As a SaaS platform, Clumio has built upon AWS physical and environmental compliance controls. Companies that use Clumio can be assured that their compliance requirements for data protection are satisfied.

Although there is no official GDPR checklist or certification, Clumio’s platform is built on ISO information security and privacy management system standards that also align with GDPR. This privacy-related certification confirms that Clumio’s product offerings contain processes and operations that have been validated through independent testing and support compliance with privacy laws and legislation, including GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Clumio Access Management

In addition to achieving the ISO 27701 certification, Clumio recently announced Clumio Access Management, a new set of secure access management capabilities designed to provide corporate IT with more granular department and role-based access controls. Clumio Access Management encompasses authorization and authentication best practices that allow enterprise IT teams to provision by organizational unit, ensuring the right people have the right access to do their jobs.

Clumio Access Management delivers:

  • A simplified experience: Easily configure asset/inventory grouping criteria for department administrators in organizational units. Any future assets that get added to the grouping criteria (such as Accounts for AWS or VMFolder for VMware) get assigned to the department administrator in that organizational unit automatically.
  • Zero trust security: Corporate IT teams in large enterprises or Managed Service Providers no longer need to have credentials of all data sources. They can add their department administrators or tenants respectively and then these administrators can add their respective data sources and ensure that visibility is restricted to their own department.
  • Contextual navigation: Corporate IT teams can easily change the context and “view” everything as the department administrator. This helps both teams resolve issues very quickly.
  • Consistent data protection: Corporate IT teams can create reference policies that department administrators can use to protect their assets. They cannot modify such policies, but they can use this policy to provide consistent data protection across different data sources.

This first phase of Clumio Access Management is available now. Future updates to Clumio Access Management will include the ability to create custom and/or pre-defined roles to allow select administrators to manage the actions that organizational unit administrators can perform in the Clumio portal.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Verizon launch interactive virtual art experience

The Met Unframed

opens virtual doors to the Museum offering access to immersive digital galleries and augmented reality versions of iconic Met masterpieces

Select works of art come to life utilizing Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband

NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Verizon today launched The Met Unframed, an immersive virtual art and gaming experience, with enhancements powered by Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, that features more than a dozen one-of-a-kind digitally rendered galleries and nearly 50 works of art from across The Met’s vast collection. At a time when access to one of the world’s greatest art collections is limited, The Met Unframed brings a creatively reimagined Met experience to people wherever they are.

TheMetUnframed.com invites online visitors to explore digital galleries and play games that unlock augmented reality (AR) versions of the art on view that can then be displayed virtually at home. The Met Unframed is accessible from any 4G or 5G smart device, and is available for free for a limited five-week run.

Within the experience, four of the AR works of art are enhanced with activations accessible to users on Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband. These users can watch the objects come alive in AR by utilizing high-speed responsiveness and ultra low lag.

Max Hollein, Director of The Metropolitan Museum of Art commented, “Our mission since The Met’s founding 150 years ago has been to connect people to art and ideas, and to one another — something we’ve found to be more powerful than ever over these last months of isolation and uncertainty. The Met Unframed brings the Museum to audiences wherever they are in an innovative viewing experience, in which users can virtually visit iconic spaces and engage with The Met’s masterpieces, learn more about the works in a playful way and through AR, and enjoy bringing the art into one’s own surroundings. The Met Unframed expands the ways in which we can understand, experience, and appreciate art.”

Andrew McKechnie, Chief Creative Officer, Verizon added, “The Met Unframed enhances digital inclusivity for an audience that may have never experienced art in such a personal way. We’re utilizing the power of technology and enhancements enabled by Verizon 5G, to provide extensive access, in-depth education, and opportunities for interactivity and sharing, for beloved works of art from one of the world’s most renowned museums.”

The custom-designed digital galleries were rendered exclusively for The Met Unframed and evoke or nearly replicate spaces from across the Museum. The virtual layout creatively arranges a sampling of galleries that display art from across millennia and from around the world, allowing the Museum—and the collection—to be experienced like never before.

Visitors to The Met Unframed are first welcomed into an intricately detailed rendering of the Museum’s iconic Great Hall, where Kent Monkman’s monumental diptych mistikôsiwak: Wooden Boat People (2019) hangs, and from there banners offer broad thematic concepts—Power, Home, Nature, and Journey—that visitors can take up while exploring the galleries.

Highlights from The Met’s collection include works by the contemporary artists El Anatsui, Mark Bradford, Ibrahim El-Salahi, Sam Gilliam, and Carmen Herrera; all of The Met’s five paintings by American modernist Jacob Lawrence; and massive works like the Egyptian Wing’s magnificent Temple of Dendur (completed by 10 B.C.) in the Egyptian wing and a stunning 14th century Chinese mural depicting the Buddha of Medicine. Visitor favorites also abound, like The Unicorn Rests in a Garden (1495-1505) from The Met Cloisters’ Unicorn Tapestries; Jackson Pollock’s Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) (1950), Vincent Van Gogh’s Wheatfield with Cypresses (1889), Emanuel Leutze’s Washington Crossing the Delaware (1851), and Rembrandt van Rijn’s Self Portrait (1660); along with important works like Lee Krasner’s Rising Green (1972), Standing Bear’s The Battle of Little Bighorn (ca. 1920), and Margareta Haverman’s Vase of Flowers (1716).

The Met Unframed was designed in partnership with multidisciplinary production company Unit9, and developed using the latest in web AR and emerging mobile technology combined with The Met’s rich digital, educational, and curatorial teams providing rich content and expertise. The high-fidelity gallery and art renderings in this experience were modeled by 3D artists based on the Met’s extensive collection of images — many within its Open Access program — created by the Museum’s staff photographers and post-production team. Games in the experience—such as trivia questions, riddles, and a “Zoom and Spot” challenge—encourage close observation of the works of art and accompanying descriptions and content, while a game called “Analysis” uses The Met’s infrared and XRF conservation documentation scans of paintings to give users a glimpse of underdrawings and other hidden details of well-known Met paintings that would go unseen in an in-person visit to the Museum.

Today, The Met displays tens of thousands of objects covering 5,000 years of art from around the world for everyone to experience and enjoy. The Museum lives in two iconic sites in New York City—The Met Fifth Avenueand The Met Cloisters. Millions of people also take part in The Met experience online.
