NEW YORK, April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cyabra, a SaaS platform that measures authenticity and impact within online conversations, today announced a new agency partnership with the leading global disruption advertising agency Lew’Lara\TBWA based in Brazil. Lew’Lara\TBWA’s integration of Cyabra into its offerings will be exclusive to the Brazilian market and available to their brands immediately.

Cyabra’s agency offering provides advertising, marketing, and communication firms with its unique social analytics data to allow brand leadership teams to identify, analyze, and understand online narratives. Cyabra’s platform will help to guide Lew’Lara\TBWA’s client strategy by allowing them to:

  • Monitor Online Narratives: Cyabra’s platform monitors billions of online conversations happening across the internet to identify when and where a brand or organization is getting attention online.

  • Understand Content Origins and Story Lines: Through Cyabra’s AI-lens, the platform extracts insights from dialogues to show how narratives shift, which words or themes are being used, and if disinformation content is geared towards specific audiences or demographics.

  • Track Social Conversation’s Reach & Impact: Once fake news, disinformation, brand backlash or praise has started online, agency pros can identify how that message has traveled and its total reach. The data from Cyabra will provide detailed findings on which authors – authentic, fake or nefarious – are spreading content and the genuine engagement with these narratives.

“Cyabra will allow us to get a deeper analysis of dialogue across various social networks in order to mitigate and protect the image and reputation of our brands in the face of disinformation,” said Vicente Varela, Chief Data & Media Officer of Lew’lara\TBWA. “We are ready to deliver unprecedented social analysis to the Brazilian market, which will show how and when disinformation is affecting a brand, and how we will act to effectively stop these malicious agents including bots, fake authors, and trolls. “Cyabra delivers the data agencies need to better inform their decision making around client campaigns, communications, and more,” said Dan Brahmy, Co-founder and CEO of Cyabra. “We’re thrilled to partner with Lew’Lara\TBWA and bring the features and tools that help Cyabra’s solution stand out to their team of creative minds and roster of iconic brands. Rogers Expands 5G Network in the West and Ontario and Powers Canada’s First 5G Drone Flight

Canada’s largest and most reliable 5G network reaches even more cities and towns across Manitoba and Ontario
1

In collaboration with InDro Robotics and the University of British Columbia, Rogers for Business continues on its 5G innovation path marking the first drone flight on 5G in the country

TORONTO, April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Rogers Communications today announced it is expanding Canada’s largest and most reliable 5G network to now reach residents and businesses in Selkirk and Steinbach, Manitoba and St. Catharines, Ontario. Rogers 5G, powered exclusively by Ericsson, reaches 173 cities and towns nationwide offering 5G access to nearly half of Canada. As Rogers launches 5G across the country, it continues to prove the strength of its wireless and broadband networks, based on the latest network benchmarking report released today by Ookla®.

Also announced today, Rogers for Business worked with InDro Robotics and the University of British Columbia’s MéridaLabs to complete Canada’s first remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) flight over a 5G network at the UBC campus in Vancouver, BC. 5G will enable the ability to fly drones on autonomous missions from remote command centres connected over a 5G network. The 5G infrastructure Rogers has installed at UBC is enabling researchers and partners to explore future innovations, including parcel tracking, scheduling, and delivery by drone. 5G drones are expected to provide untapped services for a number of industries including agriculture, natural resources, infrastructure and utilities, construction, first responders and more2.

Today’s announcement with InDro Robotics and UBC is supported by Rogers multi-year partnership with the university to research, incubate and commercialize 5G applications in Canada. Rogers continues to make network and innovation investments throughout Western Canada. As part of the company’s future plans, Rogers will continue to invest in the West through the agreement to combine Rogers Communications with Shaw Communications, enabling the combined company to build critically needed 5G networks, bridge the digital divide, and connect underserved rural and Indigenous communities.

Quotes:

“We’re focused on bringing 5G connectivity to even more Canadian residents and businesses to help drive economic prosperity in our communities,” said Jorge Fernandes, Chief Technology Officer at Rogers Communications. “As we continue investing in our award-winning networks and Canada’s 5G ecosystem, we’ll begin to see more 5G use cases come to life that will play a critical role in transforming and evolving entire industries across the country.”

“Over the last 12 months, wireless connectivity has become an even bigger part of critical infrastructure – helping our residents work, study and socialize online at unprecedented levels. Investments into more robust technology like this are critical for individuals and businesses alike, and we’re pleased to see St. Catharines included in Rogers’ map of 5G communities.” – Mayor Walter Sendzik, City of St. Catharines

“By being a regional hub, tourist destination and gateway to the lakes, people and businesses in Selkirk need top notch mobile service that matches the other top notch services our city provides. The 5G network is an enhancement that will help support long-term success for a strong and stable local economy. We are excited to be a part of this expansion that brings faster download speeds, more capacity and lower latency.” – Mayor Larry Johannson, City of Selkirk

“Access to 5G for drones is the step we needed to unleash the potential for drones to become far more productive,” said Philip Reece, President and CEO of InDro Robotics. “The amount of data that can be exchanged at near zero latency means we can now separate the pilot and crew from being on scene with the drone, engineers can carry out critical infrastructure inspection from their office increasing speed of response and safety. First responders will be able to gain great situational awareness before they arrive at an accident and share valuable information back to incident command live from the scene.”

“This RPAS research is just one example of how 5G opens up new applications with significant societal benefit. 5G drones can be routinely used in the near future to monitor wildfires or assist in medical supplies delivery. They can be enlisted to provide security services and deployed during times of crisis and natural disasters. 5G enables us to explore many of the challenges and opportunities that will emerge as transportation and civil infrastructures become smart and interconnected.” –   Walter Mérida, UBC professor in the faculty of applied science and lead, MéridaLabs

Nokia and NCTC partnership brings tailored fiber solutions to 700 cable and broadband operators

Nokia and NCTC partnership brings tailored fiber solutions to 700 cable and broadband operators

  • Nokia to provide tailored fiber solutions which help NCTC members be more competitive and bring new services to their market of 15 million Americans
  • Nokia fiber broadband solutions provide NCTC members with a simple, flexible evolution path to 25Gb/s and cloud-native Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
  • Nokia broadband solutions help NCTC members better monetize their networks with support for a number of use cases ranging from fiber to the home, to large-scale enterprise applications, to 5G transport

15 April 2021

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced an agreement with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) to aid and expedite its member companies’ broadband service rollouts and expansions. Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia will provide NCTC members with tailored fiber solutions and access to premier service programs. Unique in the industry, the Nokia solution also enables a simple upgrade path to 25Gb/s.

NCTC represents more than 700 cable and broadband operators in all 50 United States and its territories. Its members serve approximately 15 million consumers with broadband service across 3,000+ communities, many of which are smaller and located in rural areas. Several NCTC members had winning bids in the Phase I Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) auction, receiving awards to bring high speed fixed broadband service to rural homes and small businesses that lack it. In addition to the urgency to provide better connectivity to rural communities, COVID-19-related societal and behavioral shifts are forcing operators to greatly accelerate network upgrades.

Nokia’s fiber solution will enable NCTC members to efficiently boost network capacity from 2.5Gb/s to 10Gb/s and beyond as needed. With more capacity on the same fiber, operators can better monetize their networks and address multiple customer segments including residential, enterprises, and wireless operators, along with service wholesalers, in urban, suburban and rural areas. Nokia’s solution also helps NCTC members’ seamless transition towards network automation and management with cloud-native Software-Defined Networking solutions which provide the flexibility to scale networks while reducing cost and effort.

Nokia is a recognized leader in fiber broadband with approximately seven out of every 10 fiber homes in the U.S. served by Nokia solutions. The company recently announced reaching the significant milestone of 100 million shipped PON fiber broadband lines globally.

“This marks the beginning of a partnership that will greatly benefit NCTC members and their customers as demand for higher performing broadband is growing faster than ever before,” saidSandy Motley, President, Nokia Fixed Networks division. “In addition to our family of PON products built on our in-house designed chipset, we expect our agreement will expand to include a full range of fixed and wireless network solutions. NCTC members now have ready access to Nokia’s extensive team of experienced professionals, capable of supporting any type of network expansion and upgrade challenges.”

“On behalf of our members, we are very excited to establish a partnership with a technology leader like Nokia,” said Rob Smith, Senior Director of Procurement, NCTC. “Nokia is the only NCTC partner that currently offers a 25G symmetrical PON solution, and its complete wired and wireless service portfolio is cutting edge. Nokia is clearly committed to our membership and to enabling their success. We look forward to a productive and beneficial partnership for decades to come.”

Prey Software Report Finds 43.13% of workers will stay remote after the pandemic ends

67% of IT Professionals Concerned with Remote Workplace Endpoint Misuse

SAN FRANCISCO, April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Prey Inc., provider of the cross-platform, open source anti-theft & management software that protects more than eight million mobile devices, today announced the results of a new study, Status of the Remote Work Cyber Security Landscape 2021, which finds that 43.13% of workers will stay remote after the pandemic ends and that two out of three IT professionals are concerned with endpoint misuse. The report examines the remote work challenges generated by the pandemic year and the number of people working from home far from corporate environments, on insecure networks, in many cases sharing with other unsafe devices in their homes.

Read the free report: Prey Shift Report: Status of the Remote Work Cyber Security Landscape 2021

“As the pandemic hit in early 2020, organizations had to cope with the new reality of a remote workforce,” said Norman Gutiérrez, Cybersecurity Researcher, Prey Software. “Our survey found a whopping 75 percent were unprepared for this rapid shift and that endpoint security had become one of their top priorities.”

Remote Work Presents IT Challenge

The Prey report finds that, on average, 43.13% of workers will stay remote after the pandemic ends. They join the 63% of workers who already had some sort of remote policy implemented before the pandemic to create a vastly expanded remote work force.

In this new remote environment, IT professionals surveyed worry about the lack of IT infrastructure to allocate resources to suddenly remote workers, followed by employees using third-party software, increasingly overwhelmed IT staff, and not having enough devices for everyone. Lack of budget is a big concern too, as well as dated infrastructure and IT personnel without the necessary experience.

Of the IT professionals surveyed for The Prey report:

  • 62% stated that threats increased after the pandemic started;
  • More than 50% strongly agreed that the COVID-19 pandemic and remote work has made cybersecurity a greater challenge, while 41% somewhat agreed.

Endpoint Security

The Prey report identifies endpoint security as the bread and butter of the new cybersecurity landscape: a way to secure remote office devices while also maintaining a minimum level of security for the data in transit. Data Encryption solutions are highly appreciated too, to deliver protection to the static data on every endpoint. In addition, remote work must happen in tandem with cybersecurity education for workers and frequent endpoint checkups.

Accordingly, the Prey report finds:

  • 67% of IT professionals surveyed stated that endpoint misuse grew in some way or another in their organizations;
  • 44% are worried that, with more liberal B.Y.O.D. policies, personal devices are being used in the workplace without risk assessment.

Identity & Access Management are a necessity for more than half of the surveyed organizations as well. Software Management sits right in the middle, a necessary evil in a remote world. Backup and Web Filtering are in dead last, only relevant to a third of surveyed professionals.

Methodology

The results shared in the Prey report come from a comprehensive survey of 300 security and IT professionals in the United States and the United Kingdom. Conducted in December 2020, the Shift survey was aimed at identifying security concerns related to the remote work trend, and the evolution of such concerns as the cybersecurity landscape changed throughout the year. The respondents come from a variety of industries and organizations, big and small, with varying levels of seniority and responsibility to represent the security landscape broadly and accurately.

Rockset Enables Real-Time Analytics for MySQL and PostgreSQL

New integration supports real-time indexing for relational databases, enabling sub-second analytics for developers building modern applications

SAN MATEO, Calif., April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Rockset, the real-time indexing database company, today announced new integrations for MySQL and PostgreSQL. With these integrations, developers can run sub-second, high-concurrency analytics on data from MySQL and PostgreSQL, in real time.

With Rockset’s new MySQL and PostgreSQL integrations, developers can rely on their favorite relational databases for online transaction processing (OLTP), while using Rockset to power real-time analytics at cloud scale. This significantly reduces the load on the primary OLTP database, because Rockset handles the heavy analytical queries that would otherwise add significant cost and risk to the primary database.

“MySQL and PostgreSQL are among the most popular databases in the world, however developers still find them impossible to scale as the volume of data grows. They either are forced to vertically scale existing databases by adding more compute resources, or give up on them completely in favor of a more horizontally scalable option,” said Venkat Venkataramani, co-founder and CEO at Rockset. “These alternatives are painful and no longer acceptable in our cloud-first world, one where scale and speed are of utmost importance. Our new integration for MySQL and PostgreSQL is yet another example of Rockset removing the many barriers developers face when building modern data applications.”

As the world moves from batch to real-time analytics, and from analysts running manual queries to applications running programmatic queries, traditional data warehouses are falling short. Through the power of Rockset, developers using MySQL and PostgreSQL can:

  • Run sub-second analytical queries including JOINS with other databases, lakes, or event streams.
  • Achieve better database performance by isolating analytical queries on Rockset, which in turn scales horizontally in the cloud.
  • Power fast microservices using developer SDKs or deliver real-time reporting using one of Rockset’s integrations with visualization tools including Tableau, Retool, Redash, and Superset.

Built by the creators of RocksDB, Rockset automatically builds a Converged Index™ on any data — including structured, semi-structured, geographical, and time series data — for high-performance search and analytics at scale. When combined with serverless operations, it is a game-changing approach to making real-time analytics fast, flexible, and easy. This is revolutionary across a broad range of digital platforms and apps, including e-commerce, logistics and delivery tracking, gaming leaderboards, fraud detection systems, health and fitness trackers, and social media newsfeeds.

P&G’s “It’s Our Home” Shows How Small Actions at Home Can Make A Big Difference for Our Planet

P&G’s “It’s Our Home” Shows How Small Actions at Home Can Make A Big Difference for Our Planet

New creative film is inspired by the fact that most people want to make sustainable choices, but many don’t know how

P&G brands like Tide, Oral-B, Gillette, and Dawn aim to make it easier to be sustainable at home

CINCINNATI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Most people want to protect the planet, but they’re not always sure where to start, according to a new study by Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG). In celebration of Earth Week and as part of its commitment to help make sustainable choices easier for the five billion consumers it serves every day, P&G is launching a new campaign, including a short film It’s Our Hometo share how small actions at home can make a world of difference for the planet.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210415005607/en/

(Photo: Business Wire)

(Photo: Business Wire)

Small acts at home can make a big impact

According to a new study in the U.S. by P&G1, 72% of people want to do more to be sustainable at home and nearly 90% of parents are inspired by their children to do so. But fewer than half of people make environmentally conscious choices at home as often as they’d like. For most people, “not knowing how” is the biggest barrier to acting sustainably.

Closing the gap between intention and action and unlocking change at home has the potential to positively impact the planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, electricity, water use, and more. Among the 28 sectors of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, “homes” are in the top three, and as big as road transportation2. And the amount of electricity we use at home – accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic – is expected to nearly double by 20503.

This means the small changes we make – such as using cold water for laundry, taking shorter showers or turning off the tap while brushing our teeth or shaving, and recycling more – can make a big impact. For example, in 2010 P&G made a commitment to have 70% of all washing machine loads be low-energy wash cycles by 2020. P&G reached that goal in 2019 and estimates that since 2015, the avoided emissions from U.S. consumers increasing their use of low-energy laundry cycles have been roughly 15 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. This amount is more than five times larger than P&G’s current global manufacturing and operational emissions, demonstrating the significant impact of positively influencing consumer behavior.

“Meaningful change starts at home, and P&G brands have a big role to play – by helping consumers live more sustainably with no tradeoffs in the superior performance they expect from our products,” said David Taylor, P&G Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer. “P&G and our brands will continue to reduce our impact and help people be more sustainable at home to protect our planet – our shared home – for generations to come.”

P&G brands aim to help families be sustainable at home

In the same P&G study, nearly 80% of consumers said they expect the brands they buy to help them live a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. Previous research has shown that sustainable product choices don’t matter if people don’t choose them, and consumers expect both sustainability and product performance, without the need to compromise. That’s why P&G is committing to using its voice, reach, innovation and expertise – and that of its brands – to make sustainability irresistible for all.

P&G is taking a number of steps to help close the sustainability intention-to-action gap – including releasing a new film, It’s Our Home, in which young Luisa helps her family adopt new habits that protect her planet. The film and additional content at P&G Good Everyday will help people learn about the simple choices they can make at home.

P&G brands are also stepping up consumer communication about sustainability. And, through product formulation and packaging that uses less, refills easily or recycles more, they’re helping families make sustainable choices at home:

  • Turn to Cold: Washing on cold with Tide provides a better clean (than the bargain brand on hot4). Switching from hot to cold water can also save energy and money – using up to 90% less energy and saving up to $150 a year on your energy bill by washing on cold instead of hot5.
  • Skip the pre-rinse: Cascade knows that even small dishwasher loads can save water. A running sink can use up to four gallons of water every two minutes, while an ENERGY STAR® certified dishwasher uses less than four gallons per cycle. So, if you spend just 10 minutes per day handwashing your dishes, then choosing your dishwasher for your daily load of dishes and skipping the pre-rinse can save you up to 100 gallons a week.
  • Save on soaking:Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray creates spray-activated suds without water to get dishes clean without soaking so there’s no need to use the faucet until the final rinse.
  • Reduce and recycle: Planet KIND by Gillette is a new shaving and skincare brand that is kind to skin and the planet. Planet KIND packaging is recyclable, and the lineup also includes a razor handle made with 60% recycled plastic.
  • Turn off the tap: Closing the tap while brushing your teeth can save more than 3,000 gallons of water every year. Sponsored by Crest and Oral-B, consumers can send used toothbrushes, brush heads, toothpaste tubes and dental floss to Recycle on Us which will organize, sanitize and recycle them—giving recycled plastics entirely new life. In addition, brushing with the Oral-B Clic toothbrush lets you reuse 80% of the brush and replace only the brush head.
  • Protect forests: For every tree used to make Charmin toilet paper, at least two more are regrown. In collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation, P&G and Charmin are planting 1 million trees between 2020 and 2025 in areas devastated by natural disasters, such as wildfires.
  • Renew biodiversity: Herbal Essences is partnering with The Nature Conservancy in the US to plant trees and with World Wildlife Fund Canada to plant native plants for a landscape more resilient to climate change.

Households can participate in the It’s Our Home movement through P&G Good Everyday, a new consumer rewards program powered by P&G’s trusted brands that helps turn everyday actions into acts of good. When consumers engage with the program, they earn points that can be redeemed for rewards – and as they earn, P&G makes donations to causes consumers care about. Through their actions on P&G Good Everyday, people can directly support P&G’s well-known impact programs such as Tide Loads of Hope, P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water, Dawn Helps Save Wildlife, and others.

Advancing Progress Toward Net Zero Emissions

The launch of It’s Our Home shines a spotlight on the importance of consumer use of products in the home as an opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, consumer use of products is P&G’s largest opportunity to help reduce emissions and remains a key focus for company and brand efforts to address climate change. P&G’s Tide brand recently announced a goal for three out of four loads of laundry in the US and Canada to be washed in cold water by 2030 – which has the potential to deliver a cumulative 27 million metric ton reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the decade.

P&G’s commitments go well beyond the consumer use phase and include its 2030 goals to reduce manufacturing emissions by 50%, purchase 100% renewable electricity, improve finished product transportation emissions efficiency by 50%, make 100% of packaging recyclable or reusable, and reduce virgin petroleum plastic packaging by 50%. Later this year, P&G will issue a climate transition action plan outlining the company’s plans toward the long-term objective of net zero emissions for scope 1, 2, and elements of scope 3 emissions.

“The challenges facing our environment impact us all, but together, we can all be a part of the solution,” said Virginie Helias, P&G Chief Sustainability Officer. “P&G has a unique responsibility to use our scale and influence to help build a better tomorrow, which we are doing through our 2030 goals including partnering with others to combat some of the most complex issues we face. I am delighted to launch ‘It’s Our Home’ to show that our brands can enable small actions at home that collectively will have a big impact, fostering a sustainable, regenerative lifestyle for all.”

Environmental sustainability has been embedded in how P&G does business for decades. Over the past 10 years P&G has reduced its GHG emissions by 50%, reached zero manufacturing waste to landfill across all sites globally, and doubled the use of recycled resin in its plastic packaging.
