This new capability uses detailed fleet card transaction data, real-time vehicle information, and advanced AI-powered models to identify and stop potentially unauthorized fuel purchases before they are approved.<\/p>\n

\nWEX announced the news at the third annual WEX North American Mobility Summit<\/b><\/a>in Portland, Maine, a gathering of mobility industry leaders, including OEMs, fleet management companies, global energy providers, and commercial fleets.<\/p>\n

\nAccording to the National Association of Fleet Managers (NAFA), fraud and misuse can drain as much as 12% of a business\u2019s total fuel spend, creating significant financial and operational challenges. Traditional card controls and telematics tools alone don\u2019t provide the full picture to track and prevent fraud.<\/p>\n

\nThe WEX proprietary, closed-loop network, which covers approximately 95% of US fuel stations, provides purchase details, including fuel quantity, fuel type, and merchant location. SecureFuel combines those results with telematics data, and WEX-designed, AI-powered fraud models to help identify suspicious activity more precisely while reducing the false positives. This aids managers to make better decisions that can protect the bottom line.<\/p>\n
