I&#8217;m immensely grateful for the Duke Energy Foundation&#8217;s support of organizations that have each made that important message part of their respective missions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\n        <b>High-impact investments:<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>The <b>Dunedin History Museum&#8217;s<\/b><i>Freedom in Focus: Florida&#8217;s Legacy of Liberty <\/i>exhibit \u2013 on display through Nov. 13 \u2013 invites visitors to explore the moments, ideas and documents that have shaped the nation and Florida&#8217;s constitutional history, including interactive displays, interpretive panels and a guided timeline. The $20,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation also enabled the museum to launch a traveling Declaration of Independence signing project that will culminate in a <a href=\"https:\/\/dunedinmuseum.org\/event\/freedom-in-focus-floridas-legacy-of-liberty-for-america-250-exhibition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">special reenactment event<\/a> on June 20.\n<\/li>\n<li>With $2,500 from the Duke Energy Foundation, the\u00a0<b>Duval Preservation Trust <\/b>will open an immersive exhibit at the historic Duval-Metz House in Floral City to highlight the essential skills \u2013 from canoe carving to food gathering \u2013 that allowed the Seminole Tribe to adapt, survive and thrive in the Florida wilderness in the 1830s.\n<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<b>Florida Medal of Honor Memorial<\/b>, leveraging $7,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation, recently beautified the memorial&#8217;s .42-acre greenspace to ensure it remains a place of tranquility where members of the public can reflect on the sacrifices made by the state&#8217;s 24 Medal of Honor recipients.\n<\/li>\n<li>A $15,000 award from the Duke Energy Foundation is helping the\u00a0<b>Marion County Board of County Commissioners<\/b> host a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marioncelebrates250.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">series of events<\/a>, including a gala, parade and fireworks display, in celebration of America250.\n<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<b>Osceola Chamber Foundation<\/b> used $8,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation to put on the National Civics Bee, a regional civics competition for 6<sup>th<\/sup>, 7<sup>th<\/sup> and 8<sup>th<\/sup> graders from throughout Central Florida, in April. Three winners received cash prizes and advanced to the <a href=\"https:\/\/igc.fsu.edu\/2026-florida-statewide-finals-national-civics-bee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Florida state finals<\/a> on June 30. \u00a0\n<\/li>\n<li>To support its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t2t.org\/organizer\/t2t-orlando\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">5K Run &amp; Walk in Orlando<\/a> on Sept. 12, the Duke Energy Foundation granted the <b>Tunnel to Towers Foundation<\/b> $5,000.
