\n <\/span>, Dec. 2, 2025<\/span><\/span> \/PRNewswire\/ —\u00a0Following today’s\u00a0Alabama Public Service Commission\u00a0meeting, Alabama Power announced\u00a0its\u00a0commitment\u00a0to\u00a0keep customer rates steady through 2027 while\u00a0maintaining\u00a0the dependable service customers count on.\u00a0All components of Alabama Power’s regulated retail rates\u00a0are not scheduled to increase through 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We know budgets are tight, and power bills are a real concern for many families and businesses,” said Moses Feagin<\/span>, Alabama Power’s executive vice president, chief financial\u00a0officer\u00a0and treasurer. “This commitment gives customers more certainty and predictability around electric rates at a time when many other household and business costs are rising.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alabama Power will hold in place all existing factors\u00a0in\u00a0customer rates, including delaying until 2028 the implementation of previously approved adjustments\u00a0for\u00a0the Lindsay Hill\u00a0generation\u00a0facility.\u00a0As part of the commitment to\u00a0keeping rates steady, the company\u00a0will absorb\u00a0the\u00a0newly acquired\u00a0facility’s\u00a0costs\u00a0in 2027 rather than\u00a0deferring or\u00a0shifting those costs to a later date.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Since 2017, Alabama Power has reduced\u00a0operating\u00a0expenses by about $100 million<\/span> despite the cost of equipment, such as\u00a0transformers, poles and wires,\u00a0increasing significantly\u00a0during this time,” Feagin said. “We will not waiver\u00a0in our efforts\u00a0to strengthen the energy grid and invest in smart, storm-resilient infrastructure, so customers receive the reliable service they deserve in communities across our state.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

While rates\u00a0will\u00a0remain level through 2027, bills\u00a0could\u00a0still go up or down based on\u00a0the amount of\u00a0electricity\u00a0a customer uses\u00a0each month.\u00a0To help customers manage their bills,\u00a0Alabama Power\u00a0is\u00a0pairing rate stability with tools and\u00a0assistance. These include the company’s Bill Explainer, Rate Advisor, Energy Assistant, Budget Billing and payment\u00a0assistance\u00a0programs that help customers better understand their bill, choose options that fit their\u00a0needs\u00a0and find help when they need it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
