\n <\/span>, Nov. 8, 2025<\/span><\/span> \/PRNewswire\/ — A record-breaking field of more than 17,500 runners filled the streets of downtown Indianapolis<\/span> today for the 18th<\/sup> annual CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K<\/span>. The 13th<\/sup> consecutive sellout of the event showcased elite performances, including a new men’s marathon course and event record and 14 athletes achieving qualifying times for the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials \u2013 Marathon.<\/p>\n

The Men’s Champion, Joseph Whelan<\/span>, broke the tape in 2:12:29, setting a new men’s marathon course record and solidifying his place among the fastest marathoners ever to race in Indianapolis<\/span>. On the women’s side, Amanda Mosborg<\/span> delivered a victory in 2:32:01, leading a strong field of competitors that included several returning champions and Trials qualifiers.<\/p>\n

In total, 14 athletes earned 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials qualifying marks in the marathon distance, further establishing the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon as a key stop on the national competitive circuit.<\/p>\n

Beyond the elite performances, the 2025 event featured a new start line on West Street, the largest marathon field in event history and the 10th<\/sup> anniversary of CNO Financial Group’s title sponsorship. More than 6,600 marathoners earned their finisher medals and participants represented all 50 states and 22 countries, underscoring the event’s growing global reach.<\/p>\n

Men’s Champion:<\/b>
\n Joseph Whelan<\/span> of Webster, N.Y.<\/span>, broke the finish tape and set a new course record with a winning time of 2:12:29. Ben Decker<\/span> of Cambridge, Mass.<\/span>, and Andrew Bowman<\/span> of Ferndale, Mich.<\/span>, finished second and third in a time of 2:15:23 and 2:15:33, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n Women’s Champion:<\/b>
\n Amanda Mosborg<\/span> of St. Paul, Minn.<\/span>, finished first overall in a time of 2:32:01. Lucy Dobbs<\/span> of Indianapolis<\/span> crossed the line second with a time of 2:32:42, and Anna Benedettini<\/span> of Virginia Beach, Va.<\/span>, finished third, coming in at 2:33:12.<\/p>\n

Men’s Champion:<\/b>
\n Skylar Stidam<\/span> of Bloomington, Ind.<\/span>, led the men’s race and finished first in a time of 1:02:47. Second-place finisher Curtis Eckstein<\/span> of Batesville, Ind.<\/span>, ran a time of 1:03:06, and third-place finisher Alec Basten<\/span> of St. Louis, Mo.<\/span>, crossed the line in a time of 1:03:15.<\/p>\n

\n Women’s Champion:<\/b>
\n Carrie Ellwood<\/span> of Boulder, Colo.<\/span>, won the women’s race in a time of 1:08:33. Kasandra Parker<\/span> of Waverly, Iowa<\/span>, finished in second place with a time of 1:10:18, and Molly Grabill<\/span> of Lafayette, Colo.<\/span>, finished in third at 1:11:00.<\/p>\n
