Eighty-eight percent of those surveyed believe that they will pay for more homeowners insurance in the future and 42 percent have already confirmed they have experienced a rise in home insurance costs. Notably, 75 percent believe that homeowners insurance could ultimately become unaffordable.<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, 58 percent of recent and prospective homebuyers said that they would or are likely to forgo homeowners insurance if the costs became too high\u2013<u><a href=\"https:\/\/edge.prnewswire.com\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4506787-1&amp;h=3346018299&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.realtor.com%2Fnews%2Ftrends%2Fwhy-homeowners-have-no-home-insurance-risks%2F&amp;a=a+decision+some+have+already+made\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a decision some have already made<\/a><\/u>. This increases to 76 percent among Gen Z buyers, even though many of these young buyers are using a mortgage and therefore likely <u><a href=\"https:\/\/edge.prnewswire.com\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4506787-1&amp;h=237083837&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.realtor.com%2Fadvice%2Fbuy%2Fis-home-insurance-required-when-you-buy-a-house%2F&amp;a=required+to+have+homeowners+insurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">required to have homeowners insurance<\/a><\/u>. 65 percent of those surveyed are worried about obtaining and maintaining their homeowners insurance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Homeowners insurance offers financial protection for consumers that <u><a href=\"https:\/\/edge.prnewswire.com\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4506787-1&amp;h=4076137838&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.realtor.com%2Fadvice%2Fbuy%2Fwhat-does-home-insurance-cover%2F&amp;a=may+help+cover+damage+to+homes+and+personal+property\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">may help cover damage to homes and personal property<\/a><\/u> from an extreme weather event or fire, while also providing personal property and liability coverage,&#8221; said Realtor.com<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Chief Economist, <span class=\"xn-person\">Danielle Hale<\/span>. &#8220;But these benefits come with an upfront cost that has risen as weather events have become more frequent and impactful and rebuilding costs climb. Nearly one quarter of home searchers have completely changed strategies based on insurance challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, just 30 percent have looked into the natural disaster risk data for their home or prospective homes, though 44 percent plan to do so in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Gen Z home searchers are more likely to have taken some type of action in their search to potentially mitigate against homeowners insurance challenges compared to other generations, especially Baby Boomers who said that only 6 percent had completely changed their homebuying strategy and only 15 percent had
