The more you know, the safer you will be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To protect yourself while using a ladder at home, follow these ladder safety tips:<\/p>\n<p>\n        <b>Choose the Right Ladder<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Step ladders are ideal for indoor tasks, while extension ladders are better for outdoor projects like tree trimming, house painting and gutter work.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the ladder is tall enough to reach your working area without overextending. For extension ladders, choose one that extends at least three feet above the\u00a0roofline or working surface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n        <b>Know Where Power Lines Are Located<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Be mindful of overhead power lines and always\u00a0<b>stay at least 10 feet away<\/b> from them when working outside.<\/li>\n<li>If electrical lines are anywhere near the tree or house where you are working, use a fiberglass ladder instead of an aluminum one. Aluminum ladders conduct electricity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n        <b>Inspect Your Ladder Before Use \u2013 <\/b>Before climbing, check for damage, such as:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Cracked or broken steps and rails<\/li>\n<li>Loose or missing screws and bolts<\/li>\n<li>Worn-out or slippery feet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you notice any defects, do not use the ladder.<\/p>\n<p>\n        <b>Climb and Work Safely<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Always climb facing the rungs and avoid twisting your body.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain three points of contact; either keep two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand on the ladder.<\/li>\n<li>If you can&#8217;t reach your workspace, move the ladder instead of stretching.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your belt buckle between the side rails to maintain balance.<\/li>\n<li>Carry tools in a tool belt or hoist them up with a rope rather than holding them while climbing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n        <b>Transport and Store Ladders Properly<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>If carrying a ladder, hold it parallel to the ground to avoid hitting objects or overhead wires.
