\nInternational Bancshares Corporation (NASDAQ:IBOC), one of the largest independent bank holding companies in Texas, today reported annual net income for 2024 of approximately $409.2 <\/b>million or $6.57 <\/b>diluted earnings per common share ($6.58 <\/b>per share basic) compared to approximately $411.8 <\/b>million or $6.62 <\/b>diluted earnings per common share ($6.63 <\/b>per share basic), which represents a decrease of approximately 0.8%<\/b> in diluted earnings per share and 0.6%<\/b> decrease in net income over the corresponding period in 2023. Net income for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2024 was approximately $115.1 <\/b>million or $1.85 <\/b>diluted earnings per common share ($1.85 <\/b>per share basic), compared to approximately $106.4 <\/b>million or $1.71 <\/b>diluted earnings per common share ($1.71 <\/b>per share basic) for the same period in 2023, representing an increase of approximately 8.2%<\/b> in net income and an 8.1%<\/b> increase in diluted earnings per share.<\/p>\n

\nNet income for 2024 continues to be positively impacted by an increase in interest income earned on our investment and loan portfolios driven primarily by both an increase in the size of our investment and loan portfolios and the current rate environment, which remains elevated as a result of Federal Reserve Board actions to raise interest rates in recent years. Net interest income has been negatively impacted by an increase in interest expense, primarily driven by increases in rates paid on deposits. We continue to closely monitor and adjust rates paid on deposits to remain competitive to grow and retain deposits.<\/p>\n
