\nApproximately 350 runners will race up the building\u2019s 1,576 stairs to the iconic 86th<\/sup> Floor Observatory in the 45th<\/sup> annual Run-Up. This year\u2019s designated heats will include elite runners, adaptive athletes, celebrities, media, and the public, among others. Registered runners will be notified of their race status on Aug. 2, with participation costs of $150 per runner to be charged only upon acceptance from the lottery.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe annual Empire State Building Run-Up \u2013 the world\u2019s longest-running and most famous tower race \u2013 is a bucket list athletic event for runners from around the world,\u201d said Tony Malkin, chairman, president, and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust. \u201cThe race to the top of the \u2018World\u2019s Most Famous Building,\u2019 the country\u2019s number one-rated attraction, is the ultimate test of endurance and a significant achievement for those who participate.\u201d<\/p>\n
