\n VICTOR, N.Y., Jan. 26, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — <\/strong>Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ), a leading beverage alcohol company, announced today that James A. Locke III (Jim) has informed the company that he will retire from the company\u2019s Board of Directors at the end of his current term and consequently will not stand for re-election as a Board Director at Constellation\u2019s upcoming Annual Shareholders Meeting in July 2023. Locke will also complete and retire from his current roles as Lead Independent Director of the Board and Chair of the Corporate Governance and Responsibility Committee at that time. Following the company\u2019s upcoming Annual Shareholders Meeting, Constellation\u2019s newly elected Board of Directors will identify successors for the Lead Independent Director of the Board and Chair of the Corporate Governance and Responsibility Committee roles as part of its first meeting.<\/p>\n

This decision culminates nearly 50 years of direct support of the company and its management team, including 40 years of dedicated service as a Constellation Brands Board Director. Locke, 80, provided independent counsel when Constellation first became a public company in 1973. He joined the company\u2019s Board in 1983. Over the years, he has provided extensive knowledge in the areas of business and corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law compliance to Constellation\u2019s Board and management team.<\/p>\n

Locke played an influential role as a member of the Board in a number of transformational moments in the company\u2019s history including the company\u2019s diversification across the beer, wine and spirits categories; the acquisition of Robert Mondavi Winery, which established Constellation as a leader in Napa Valley fine wine; and the acquisition of the company\u2019s imported beer brands in the U.S., including Modelo, Corona, Pacifico and Victoria. He currently serves as Senior Counsel to the law firm of Nixon Peabody LLP.<\/p>\n
