Duke Energy restores power in a sequence starting with public health and safety facilities and equipment that restores the greatest number of customers.<\/p>\n<p>More than 850,000 customers lost power during the storm. As of Saturday morning, crews completed nearly 500,000 restorations; more than 400,000 in <span class=\"xn-location\">North Carolina<\/span> and 76,000 in <span class=\"xn-location\">South Carolina<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Duke Energy is moving thousands of crews to respond to the hardest hit areas in and around <span class=\"xn-location\">Wake<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">Guilford<\/span> counties. There is significant structural damage which may hinder progress early on.<\/p>\n<p>More than 70 percent of Duke Energy&#8217;s 1,566 customers in <span class=\"xn-location\">Edgecombe County<\/span> lost power.<\/p>\n<p>Other hard-hit counties included: <span class=\"xn-location\">Moore<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Robeson<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Vance<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Wilson<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Columbus<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Stokes<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Georgetown<\/span>, Granville, <span class=\"xn-location\">Scotland<\/span>, and Orange.<\/p>\n<p>Estimated restoration times \u2013 once determined for specific areas \u2013 will be posted at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.duke-energy.com\/outages\/current-outages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">duke-energy.com\/outages\/current-outages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Customers who are registered to receive Duke Energy text\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.duke-energy.com\/outages\/alerts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">outage alerts<\/a>\u00a0will receive a text once an estimated restoration time is established for their location.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as our crews work quickly and safely to restore power,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Jason Hollifield<\/span>, Duke Energy&#8217;s Carolinas storm director. &#8220;Every storm response is unique.
