Expansion to help canmakers, brand owners meet soaring demand for beverage cans<\/i><\/p>\n

PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE<\/a>)–
\nPPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that it is currently adding capacity for the production of overvarnish coatings for beverage can exteriors, including PPG ISENSE\u2122<\/sup> Gloss coatings, at its Delaware, Ohio, plant.\n<\/p>\n

\nPPG expects the addition of the Delaware plant\u2019s new volume to existing overvarnish capacity at its Oak Creek, Wisconsin, packaging coatings facility will increase the company\u2019s overall production of overvarnish coatings in the U.S. by 40%.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cBeverage can manufacturers around the world are facing unprecedented demand for their products,\u201d said Todd White, PPG general manager, U.S. and Canada, and global strategic accounts, packaging coatings. \u201cWith this added capacity, we are committed to helping them meet that demand while adding more security to their supply chain for beverage can coatings.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nIn addition to increasing supply chain security for its customers and the packaging industry, the Delaware plant will provide in-line analytical capabilities for enhanced batch consistency.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cPPG is the largest global supplier of overvarnish and two-piece non-BPA internal beverage coatings,\u201d said Robyn McMillan, PPG global beverage segment manager. \u201cWith can makers scaling up, we\u2019re investing in our production capacity to ensure they have localized sources of the PPG coatings that they rely on.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nPPG\u2019s Delaware, Ohio, plant employs approximately 400 people and produces resins and coatings for the packaging, industrial and automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) markets as well as the automotive refinish and collision market.\n<\/p>\n
