(NYSE: NNI), is proud to announce the closing of its first solar tax equity co-investor fund for 2021. Nelnet teamed up with six banks to invest $11.9 million<\/span> in a portfolio of solar projects located in Rhode Island<\/span> and New York<\/span>. Joining Nelnet in this investment are Elkhorn Valley Bank & Trust; First State Bank, Gothenburg, Nebraska<\/span>; Security First Bank (Nebraska<\/span>); and three other banks.<\/p>\n

The portfolio of projects financed by this co\u2013investment is expected to generate over 20,000 megawatt-hours (MWhs) of solar energy per year for a group of community solar subscribers in New York<\/span> and Rhode Island<\/span>. Over the portfolio’s 35\u2013year lifespan, the energy generated by the solar projects will offset an estimated 363,000 tons of carbon dioxide, which is the equivalent amount of CO2<\/sub> emissions from consuming 37 million gallons of gasoline. <\/p>\n
