GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 19, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Steelcase\u00a0Inc.\u00a0(NYSE:\u00a0SCS)\u00a0President and CEO Jim Keane, announces he will be retiring on January 7, 2022, after 25 years with the company, including more than seven years as CEO.\u00a0Keane\u00a0will\u00a0remain President and CEO until October 4,\u00a02021,\u00a0at which time he\u00a0will become\u00a0vice chair\u00a0and\u00a0will serve in that role until his retirement from the company.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sara Armbruster,\u00a0who\u00a0has been\u00a0appointed\u00a0Executive Vice President\u00a0and a member of the Steelcase Board of Directors,\u00a0will take over as\u00a0President and\u00a0CEO\u00a0on\u00a0October\u00a04,\u00a02021.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Keane,\u00a061,\u00a0joined the company in 1997. During\u00a0this time, he held positions including chief operating officer, chief financial officer, president, and chief executive officer. In\u00a0his time with the company, he\u00a0led\u00a0global\u00a0teams responsible for corporate strategy, IT, research, product development, design, engineering, manufacturing, sales,\u00a0and distribution.\u00a0Appointed to Steelcase\u2019s\u00a0Board of Directors in 2013, Keane\u00a0also\u00a0serves on the boards of Rockwell Automation, IDEO, the Economics Club of Grand Rapids, the\u00a0Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer\u2019s Association (BIFMA) and\u00a0is on\u00a0the board of trustees of Grand Valley University Foundation.\u00a0He is\u00a0both\u00a0an at-large member and board member of the Business Roundtable \u2013 an association of chief executive officers from America\u2019s leading companies.<\/p>\n

Since joining the company in 2007, Armbruster, 50, has led corporate strategy and acquisition activities. She has additionally led multiple businesses at Steelcase, including Steelcase Education, Steelcase Health and PolyVision Corporation. Her diverse responsibilities include leading information technology, global design research, new business initiatives, and the company\u2019s COVID global crisis response team.<\/p>\n

Armbruster\u00a0currently serves on the board of directors of Winnebago Industries and\u00a0sits on\u00a0the board of\u00a0advisors\u00a0of the Institute of Design\u00a0at\u00a0the Illinois Institute of Technology.\u00a0She is also actively involved\u00a0with numerous\u00a0non-profit organizations in West Michigan.\u00a0Before joining Steelcase, Armbruster\u00a0worked at McKinsey & Company and\u00a0served as vice president of business development at Banta Corporation,\u00a0where\u00a0she led strategy development and managed all merger and acquisition activity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Armbruster\u00a0holds\u00a0an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, a master\u2019s degree in international relations from the Paul H.
