{"id":464614,"date":"2021-03-24T16:18:49","date_gmt":"2021-03-24T20:18:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marketnewsdesk.com\/?p=464614"},"modified":"2021-03-24T16:18:49","modified_gmt":"2021-03-24T20:18:49","slug":"scor-condemns-a-deceitful-and-groundless-move-by-the-covea-group-three-months-before-the-criminal-proceedings-directed-against-covea-and-thierry-derez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marketnewsdesk.com\/index.php\/scor-condemns-a-deceitful-and-groundless-move-by-the-covea-group-three-months-before-the-criminal-proceedings-directed-against-covea-and-thierry-derez\/","title":{"rendered":"SCOR condemns a deceitful and groundless move by the Cov\u00e9a Group, three months before the criminal proceedings directed against Cov\u00e9a and Thierry Derez"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mw_release\">\n<p>\n        <strong>Press Release<\/strong><br \/>\n        <br \/>March 24, 2021 &#8211; N\u00b0 7<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n        <strong>SCOR condemns a deceitful and groundless move by the Cov\u00e9a Group, three months before the criminal proceedings directed against Cov\u00e9a and Thierry Derez<\/strong>\n      <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">SCOR was astonished to learn that Cov\u00e9a has filed, &#8220;<em>on behalf of SCOR<\/em>&#8220;, a complaint against Denis Kessler.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">SCOR wonders what led Cov\u00e9a to file this complaint, more than 2 years after it became aware of the facts it pretends to report.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The facts mentioned by Cov\u00e9a in its press release, namely the expenses that SCOR was obliged to incur to defend itself against Cov\u00e9a&#8217;s unsolicited takeover attempt on SCOR in 2018, as well as the extra costs incurred by SCOR in connection with the implementation of its share buy-back program, are perfectly justified and legitimate, and are in no way new revelations:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>They were brought forward by SCOR in the proceedings initiated in 2019 against Thierry Derez and Cov\u00e9a, as elements of the financial prejudice for which SCOR seeks compensation;<\/li>\n<li>In this respect, on November 10, 2020, the Paris Commercial Court ordered Thierry Derez and Cov\u00e9a to pay the sum of EUR 19,603,191, plus interest, corresponding to an indemnification of SCOR for part of this injury.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Cov\u00e9a is therefore complaining about the consequences of its own misconduct and that of Thierry Derez.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">SCOR points out that its board of directors unanimously decided not to proceed with this unsolicited proposal and that it approved all the decisions related to it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The allegation of market manipulation is just as surprising. SCOR\u2019s share buy-back program, of EUR 200 million over two years, was announced to the market by SCOR on July 27, 2017, at a time when Thierry Derez was still a director of SCOR, more than one year before the takeover attempt. It is therefore absolutely groundless and deceitful to suggest that it was initiated as a result of Cov\u00e9a&#8217;s offer.
