(NYSE:TMO), the world leader in serving science, today announced more than <span class=\"xn-money\">$600 million<\/span> in capital investments to expand its bioprocessing production capabilities through 2022. These investments are expected to more than double the company&#8217;s current manufacturing capacity and support biopharma customers as they ramp up to meet both the short-term demands related to COVID-19 as well as long-term efforts to develop new vaccines and biologics for other conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the bioprocessing market grows, our customers require a consistent and reliable supply of critical materials. Specific investments include:<\/p>\n<p>\n        <b><br \/>\n          <u>Single-Use Technologies Expansions<\/u><br \/>\n        <\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<p>To increase supply chain resiliency across multiple locations on three continents, <span class=\"xn-person\">Thermo Fisher&#8217;s<\/span> single-use technologies business is expanding capacity at sites in <span class=\"xn-location\">Logan, Utah<\/span>; <span class=\"xn-location\">Millersburg, Pa.<\/span>; Cramlington, U.K.; <span class=\"xn-location\">Singapore<\/span> and Suzhou, China.\u00a0 Additional investment at its <span class=\"xn-location\">Santa Clara, Calif.<\/span> site will expand bioprocessing equipment and automation capacity. <\/p>\n<p>\n        <b><br \/>\n          <u>Purification Expansions<\/u><br \/>\n        <\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<p>The company will also expand its state-of-the-art POROS resin manufacturing site in <span class=\"xn-location\">Bedford, Mass.<\/span> and open a new 85,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in <span class=\"xn-location\">Chelmsford, Mass.<\/span> Together, these sites will reinforce <span class=\"xn-person\">Thermo Fisher&#8217;s<\/span> purification network that specializes in the production of process-scale chromatography resins for a variety of applications, including vaccines and gene therapies. <\/p>\n<p>\n        <b><br \/>\n          <u>Cell Culture Media and Process Liquid Expansions <\/u><br \/>\n        <\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<p>Investments to expand capacity at sites in <span class=\"xn-location\">Grand Island, N.Y.<\/span>; <span class=\"xn-location\">Miami, Fla.<\/span> and Inchinnan, <span class=\"xn-location\">Scotland<\/span> will increase production of Gibco cell culture media, supplements and process liquids as well as the manufacturing of customer-owned proprietary media formulations.
