Laurel, New Jersey, Feb. 03, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The National Football League Alumni Association (NFLA) today announced a partnership<\/a> with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> (CDC) to help raise awareness of and advance efforts to protect Americans from COVID-19.<\/p>\n

This partnership is being led by NFL Alumni Health<\/a>, launched by NFLA to expand NFLA\u2019s efforts to improve the health and wellness of NFLA members, as well as the public at large, in support of NFLA\u2019s mission, which includes \u201cCaring for Our Own,\u201d \u201cCaring for Kids,\u201d and \u201cCaring for our Community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through NFL Alumni Health\u2019s COVID-19 Campaign<\/a>\u2014conducted in collaboration with CDC\u2014NFL Alumni Health is engaging thousands of former NFL players from across the country\u2014in collaboration with its 39 local chapters\u2014to get the word out about staying safe, wearing a mask, and getting the COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n

To support today\u2019s launch, several former NFL players, including Ra\u00fal Allegre<\/a>, Harry Carson<\/a>, Franco Harris<\/a>, Warren Moon<\/a>, and Rod Woodson<\/a>, have joined with the NFLA leadership Beasley Reece<\/a>, Bart Oates<\/a>, Kyle Richardson<\/a>, and Billy Davis, to get the message out<\/a> to stay safe and get vaccinated.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur country is facing an unprecedented public emergency,\u201d said Beasley Reece, Chief Executive Officer, NFL Alumni Association. \u201cOur goal is to help all Americans\u2014including the most vulnerable\u2014to protect against this deadly disease and help bring our country back to normalcy.\u201d<\/p>\n

NFL Alumni Health is expanding upon these efforts in the coming weeks, by engaging more players and expanding the education campaign to support local health departments and their communities across the United States.<\/p>\n
