At the end of 2020, Brandon Hall Group conducted a study on the impact of leadership development in large-global organizations and found that many cannot prove that leadership development helps the business.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brandon Hall Group\u2019s Leadership Development Maturity Model, based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/Tracker?data=08ryhBWpYfuc81iH832usRQmvjPl2gG5UOoClcP571QnQH2EVg1V6j11xl7LFtmum7yHs0X9cHC4ssPSE1Ig_M9P0rV5lfY5b-gU6dVRtmcIB8Gbsh6hlyMUtvJoyWwPkFTvptre9sDzC76QBBwH0XyNzEKEgJirkAeu9R8CyvU=\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">2020 Impact of Leadership Development Study<\/a>, shows that only 10% of organizations \u2014 those at Level 4 of the model \u2014 have a fully developed leadership development strategy yielding strong business results.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese organizations\u2019 leadership development efforts are fueled by a culture of continuous learning, including coaching and mentoring, action learning projects and other opportunities for leaders to apply their new skills in a practical setting,\u201d said Brandon Hall Group SVP and Principal HCM Analyst Claude Werder. \u201cOnly in this kind of environment, wherein leaders are empowered to take ownership of their development, can leadership development programs have real business impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Employers must build programs that develop leaders who can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive engagement across the organization while implementing an effective employee value proposition<\/li>\n<li>Empower collaboration to drive business results<\/li>\n<li>Drive a culture of diversity and inclusion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On average, only about half of organizations do any of those things. But when continuous learning is in progress or fully in place \u2014 Levels 3 and 4 in the maturity model \u2014 it is closer to 70%.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBottom line: it is difficult for leadership development programs to truly impact the business without a multifaceted strategy aligned with the organization\u2019s business objectives.
