This represents a 17 per cent increase compared to 2019. It was also the highest number of sales ever registered since the real estate brokers\u2019 Centris system began compiling market data in the year 2000.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u201cThe fourth quarter brought an extraordinary year to a close, one marked by an unprecedented health crisis. Exceptional government financial assistance programs, rock-bottom interest rates, a renewed interest in acquiring a property adapted to the new reality of teleworking, as well as new needs have helped accelerate the increase in transactions beyond large urban areas,\u201d said Charles Brant, director of market analysis at the QPAREB. \u201cThis has further reduced the already limited number of properties for sale on the market, pushing property prices to levels never before seen across the province,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Here are some of the highlights of 2020.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n        <strong>Sales<\/strong>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin-top:6pt;text-align:justify\">By property category, single-family homes stood out with a significant 18 per cent increase in sales across the province. Sales of plexes and condominiums also registered strong increases of 17 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:6pt;text-align:justify\">Among the province\u2019s metropolitan areas,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/com.apciq.ca\/sam\/pdf\/bar\/2020\/202004-bar-province-en.pdf#page=8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Quebec City<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(+28\u00a0per cent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/com.apciq.ca\/sam\/pdf\/bar\/2020\/202004-bar-province-en.pdf#page=10\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Sherbrooke<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(+22\u00a0per cent) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/com.apciq.ca\/sam\/pdf\/bar\/2020\/202004-bar-province-en.pdf#page=6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Gatineau<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(+15\u00a0per cent) registered the largest increases in sales.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:6pt;text-align:justify\">Overall, sales in regions outside of the metropolitan areas experienced an even more dramatic increase in sales (+31\u00a0per cent), all property categories combined.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:6pt;text-align:justify\">More specifically, several small urban resort areas registered phenomenal sales increases in 2020, including the agglomerations of Charlevoix (+94\u00a0per cent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/com.apciq.ca\/sam\/pdf\/bar\/2020\/202004-bar-province-en.pdf#page=21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(+64\u00a0per cent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/com.apciq.ca\/sam\/pdf\/bar\/2020\/202004-bar-province-en.pdf#page=16\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Mont-Tremblant<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(+59\u00a0per cent)\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/com.apciq.ca\/sam\/pdf\/bar\/2020\/202004-bar-province-en.pdf#page=20\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Sainte-Ad\u00e8le<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(+57\u00a0per cent).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n        <strong>Active listings<\/strong>\n      <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin-top:6pt;text-align:justify\">There was an average of 39,848 active listings on the Centris system in Quebec in 2020, a 29 per cent drop compared to 2019.
