{"id":414624,"date":"2021-01-14T05:03:25","date_gmt":"2021-01-14T10:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marketnewsdesk.com\/?p=414624"},"modified":"2021-01-14T05:03:25","modified_gmt":"2021-01-14T10:03:25","slug":"fraser-institute-news-release-oklahoma-and-texas-rank-far-more-attractive-for-oil-and-gas-investment-than-alberta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marketnewsdesk.com\/index.php\/fraser-institute-news-release-oklahoma-and-texas-rank-far-more-attractive-for-oil-and-gas-investment-than-alberta\/","title":{"rendered":"Fraser Institute News Release: Oklahoma and Texas rank far more attractive for oil and gas investment than Alberta"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mw_release\">\n<p align=\"left\">CALGARY, Alberta, Jan.  14, 2021  (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) &#8212; Oklahoma and Texas are considered far more attractive than Alberta for oil and gas investment, according to a new survey of petroleum-sector executives released today by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan, Canadian public policy think-tank.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCanada\u2019s onerous and uncertain regulatory environment, along with our lack of pipeline capacity has created a significant competitiveness gap between Canadian and American jurisdictions,\u201d said Elmira Aliakbari, Associate Director of the Centre for Natural Resource Studies at the Fraser Institute and co-author of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraserinstitute.org\/studies\/canada-us-energy-sector-competitiveness-survey-2020?utm_source=Media-Releases&amp;utm_campaign=Canada-US-Energy-Sector-Competitiveness-Survey-2020&amp;utm_medium=Media&amp;utm_content=Learn_More&amp;utm_term=415\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Canada-US Energy Sector Competitiveness Survey<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The survey, conducted between May and August of 2020, ranks 21 North American jurisdictions (16 states and five provinces) based on policies affecting oil and gas investment.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Oklahoma ranked 1<sup>st<\/sup>, while Alberta ranked 12<sup>th<\/sup> out of 21.<\/p>\n<p>Investors pointed to the uncertainty concerning environmental regulations, the cost of regulatory compliance, and regulatory enforcement as major areas of concern in Canadian provinces compared to US states.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, only 16 and 24 per cent of respondents in Oklahoma and Texas, respectively, specified that uncertainty around environmental regulations is a deterrent to investment.
