ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands, Jan. 07, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Aura Minerals Inc. (TSX: ORA) (B3: AURA33) <\/strong>(\u201cAura<\/strong>\u201d or the \u201cCompany<\/strong>\u201d) is pleased to announce the preliminary production results for the fourth quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n

Aura reached record high quarterly production with 68,964 gold equivalent ounces (\u201cGEO\u201d) during the fourth quarter of 2020.\u00a0 This compares to production of 53,386 GEO1<\/sup> in the same period of 2019.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo Barbosa, the Company\u2019s President and CEO noted, \u201cWe are pleased to share with the market that our strategic plan continues to deliver the growth we have promised. \u00a0The fourth quarter yielded a 20% production growth compared to the third quarter and there still much more work planned for continued improvement. For the year end, despite the negative impact of the pandemic on our operations in the first semester, Aura reached over 200,000 gold equivalent ounces during the year, a +15% increase compared with 2019.\u00a0 We look forward to an even better year ahead for 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n 1 <\/sup>Gold equivalent ounces, or GEO, is calculated by converting the production of silver and copper into gold using a ratio of the prices of these metals to that of gold. The prices used to determine the gold equivalent ounces are based on the weighted average price of silver and copper realized from sales at the Aranzazu Complex during the relevant period.
