This increase of\u2009approximately $2.2 million was due primarily to an increase in clinical trial activity, drug manufacturing costs, and stock-based compensation expense, offset by a decrease in travel expenses during the third quarter of 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to hamper business travel throughout the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>General and administrative expenses were $3.3 million and $2.8 million for the three months ended September 30, 2020 and 2019, respectively.
