The five-year project is a key component of Lorenz<em>\u2019<\/em>s logistics strategy, combining the development of future-ready plant logistics with the goal of sustainably reducing CO\u2082 emissions from internal transport.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of the project are four cabless, autonomous electric vehicles from Einride, which will transport finished goods, raw materials, and empty pallets between the production facilities and the central warehouse on the private plant grounds, without producing exhaust emissions. Einride\u2019s software platform, Saga AI, controls and coordinates the operations, planning and synchronizing the autonomous transport processes.<\/p>\n<p>Two conventional electric trucks complement the fleet as a backup, ensuring uninterrupted operations if an autonomous vehicle is temporarily unavailable. Each vehicle carries 15 pallets per trip, and a round trip takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on operational workflows.<\/p>\n<p>Remote and local operators continuously support and monitor operations, combining automated processes with human safety and control structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe partnership with Lorenz demonstrates how autonomous and electric transport solutions can already be effectively integrated into industrial operations today,\u201d said Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer at Einride. \u201cTogether, we are showing the potential this technology holds for efficient, future-ready plant logistics. The vehicles will be charged with electricity generated by the photovoltaic system at the Lorenz plant.<\/p>\n<p>By switching from diesel to electric vehicles, Lorenz is reducing CO\u2082 emissions from internal transport between the production facility and the on-site warehouse. This reduction contributes directly to the carbon footprint of the entire Lorenz supply chain and supports the sustainability targets (Scope 3 emissions) of its partners.<\/p>\n<p>The project is designed as a permanent operational solution rather than a short-term pilot. It is based on a transportation service agreement under which the vehicles remain the property of Einride, which also operates and manages them.
