The system is progressing toward commercial availability in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\nAs broadband operators increase network capacity and evolve their access networks, power demand at the network edge is increasing while energy costs and field-resource constraints are becoming more important operating considerations. Even modest conversion losses at individual sites can accumulate across large installed power-supply estates.<\/p>\n<p>\nEfficiency is therefore a primary design objective for the Alpha\u00ae XM Edge power system. The current design target is up to 96% peak efficiency, subject to completion of product validation and qualification. The digital switch-mode architecture is designed to improve conversion efficiency across a broad operating range compared with earlier ferro-resonant platforms.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Alpha\u00ae XM Edge power system is also being developed around three additional operational priorities:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li><b>Simpler field service:<\/b> A modular architecture with keyed, field-replaceable functional components is designed to simplify common service tasks and component replacement.\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Greater operational visibility:<\/b> Embedded sensing, system information and planned mobile- and web-based configuration and diagnostic capabilities are designed to give operators and technicians clearer visibility into power-system condition, performance and service needs.\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Greater adaptability:<\/b> A configurable architecture supports a broader range of outside plant requirements while reducing the need for multiple dedicated system variants and accommodating evolving network power requirements.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nReliability is a core design requirement. Current work includes system integration and validation, customer technical engagement, production-readiness activities and completion of the software capabilities planned for initial commercial release.<\/p>\n<p>\nValidation includes power-conversion efficiency and performance, line-to-standby transfer, protection behavior, modular serviceability, communications, configuration and field diagnostics. Expanded customer field evaluations are planned for fall 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\nAt SCTE TechExpo26, taking place September 29\u2013October 1, 2026, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, EnerSys will display a development-stage Alpha\u00ae XM Edge power system.
